Foxwedge wins Roman Consul Stakes 2011

October 3rd, 2011

Foxwedge has take out the 2011 Roman Consul Stakes at Randwick in Sydney on Epsom Handicap Day.

The Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes, a 1200m set weights race, featured a final field of just five three-year-olds after Hollyweird was scratched. Foxwedge, the race favourite, won by a short-head from Masthead with Do You Think claiming third.

Trained by John O’Shea, Foxwedge has now won four of his eight career starts.

Foxwedge’s spring target is now the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day (October 29, 2011) where they are set to clash with the in-form Sepoy. While Sepoy will likely be installed as the odds-ons favourite for the Coolmore Stud Stakes at online bookmaker Luxbet, Foxwedge has showed great form and is worthy of being backed to upset Sepoy.

At Luxbet you can take advantage of their Spring refund bonus bet on Group 1 races – so if you back Foxwedge to win the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes and he runs second to Sepoy you will receive a refund bonus bet equal to your stake valued at up to $250. Note that the refund bet offer is only valid on your first win bet placed on the race.
